Gunther Toody’s Diner got its name from the popular 1960’s sitcom Car 54, Where Are You?, a funny dynamic duo cop show that followed the misadventures of a Mutt and Jeff pair of New York City's finest from the mythical 53rd precinct in the Bronx.
Gunther Toody, played by Joe Ross, was the short and slightly dim-witted police officer that typically saved the day after muffing things up, much to the chagrin of Muldoon, the tall, smart officer played by Fred Gwynne.
